About Us
Street Reset is Hong Kong's first collective specialised in promoting human-oriented transport planning and street design.
We bring together transport planners, traffic engineers, urban designers, researchers and everyday street users who believe Hong Kong's streets can serve people better. Drawing on professional knowledge and experience from cities around the world, we examine how our streets are planned, designed and managed — and imagine how they could be better.
Through research, campaigns and community conversations, we share insights on street design, public space, transport policy and urban observations, and build the case for streets where walking, cycling and public life are treated as priorities rather than afterthoughts.
People-first Streets
Streets are public space for everyone — not just corridors for private vehicles. We advocate for design that puts people walking, cycling and using public transport at the centre.
Road Safety
No one should be seriously injured or killed using Hong Kong's streets. We analyse collision data and patterns to push for safer street design, backed by evidence.
Community Building
Change starts with people who care about their streets. We connect and grow the community of people reimagining Hong Kong's public space, together.
Advocacy & lobbying
Driving policy changeAcross transport planning, road safety and placemaking, we draw on professional expertise and research to advise the Government on policies and development projects, pushing for people-oriented street design.
Public education
Making transport ideas accessibleThrough social media and mainstream press, we translate complex planning concepts into plain language — deepening understanding of people-oriented transport and street design among the public and stakeholders, and sparking wider debate.
Data & research
Grounded in evidenceWe built and keep updating the Hong Kong Traffic Injury Collision Database, using data visualisation to reveal road dangers, and carry out in-depth analysis of transport issues so that advocacy and debate rest on solid evidence.
Civic participation
Building community consensusThrough seminars, exhibitions and community-based projects, we connect neighbourhood networks, grow our base of supporters and build advocacy capacity in civil society.
Lorraine Li
DirectorProject manager at Very Hong Kong, working on placemaking. She sees walking as a way to understand the city, with a particular interest in public spaces such as streets and squares — how they are used, felt, and continually reshape our shared public life. She has taken part in bottom-up placemaking projects in Wong Tai Sin, Sheung Shui, Tai O and beyond, using creative interventions and co-creation with residents to foster community dialogue and participation, and to rebuild residents' sense of and voice over their place.
Kate Lau
DirectorFounding Director of 2 Square Metres Design Limited, a Hong Kong registered landscape architect and part-time lecturer at THEi. She moves between landscape architecture, spatial design, community co-creation and ecological design, and has co-created, designed and built public spaces including parks, playgrounds, streets, riversides and waterfronts, villages, and residential and commercial projects. Starting from anthropology and art, she works to bring the humanities and landscape architecture closer together, embedding environment and design into everyday life within the local context.
Ceas Chong
DirectorTrained in cultural studies and landscape architecture, now a user researcher and service designer. Through interviews, observation and co-design, she untangles the real needs behind complex problems and how people choose between services, spaces and systems. She has worked on design research for hiking trails, public housing estates, public spaces and crematoria, with a particular interest in how design responds to people's emotions, behaviour and life context — making systems not only more efficient but closer to their users.
We are volunteers from transport planning, urban design, research and beyond — united by the belief that streets should put people first.
Justin Yim
Founder Transport PlannerWorks on transport policy and planning at a public body in London, focusing on cycling infrastructure expansion. Committed to bringing that experience back to Hong Kong to advocate for safer, more liveable streets.
Ezreal Sin
Spokesperson Road Safety EngineerA road safety engineer with UK transport planning experience. A New Territories West resident, keen walker, and both shared- and road-bike user who observes how people use pedestrian and cycling facilities. Uses data to analyse the root causes of collisions and push for human-oriented planning and design, so Hong Kong's streets become truly walkable and cyclable.
Maxi Li
Spokesperson Transport PlannerWorks at a UK consultancy on macro transport policy and strategy, project appraisal, active travel and street design. Combines overseas practice with Hong Kong's local context to bring human-oriented transport planning back home.
Benny Yip
Founding Member Architectural Designer / admin of the “Kowloon Greenway” pageHas pored over and redrawn maps since childhood, tracking how the city develops, decoding the logic of its infrastructure and exploring design possibilities. Focuses on active-travel infrastructure such as cycling — hoping existing cycle routes keep improving and that new ones are actively introduced where the urban core still lacks them, believing the status quo is far from settled.
Jobie Yip
Founding Member UX DesignerHolds an MSc in City Design and Social Science from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and works as a UX designer. Hopes to use Street Reset to promote a user-first approach, bringing more pedestrian-friendly streets and public spaces to Hong Kong.
Kristin Leung
Founding Member Urban Design & StrategyFocuses on urban resilience and road-space design, with experience planning community-engagement and co-design projects. Loves walking, ferries and buses. Through urban design and greening, she works to make streets more inclusive and to unlock their potential as community spaces — so everyone can walk with ease.
Hermion Au
Founding Member Social Innovation & Urban DesignAfter a master's in urban planning and design, she committed to human-oriented community design. She has led many cross-sector co-creation projects, running community experiments with government, residents and community groups to advance innovative public services.
Kenneth Wong
Researcher Geographic Information Systems (GIS)An urbanist with a background in urban planning. Ever since first encountering GIS at university, he has been fascinated by data analysis and mapmaking. He is passionate about using data to unpack the spatial logic of cities, understand how streets work, and plan more pedestrian-friendly urban spaces.
Miles Yan
Member Urban PlanningA keen user of public space. Commutes by bike and runs for leisure — hoping every street is good to walk, cycle and run.
Arthur P.
Member Traffic Engineer / Transport PlannerWorked in traffic engineering and planning in Hong Kong for a time and now lives in the UK. Approaches things with curiosity, keeping an eye on what the UK does well in transport infrastructure and planning, and looking for elements that could help Hong Kong's transport develop.
Gabriel
Member Transport ModellingWorks mainly on crowd and pedestrian planning, using simulation to find the best designs for streets, stations, buildings and large events. Hopes Hong Kong's whole transport system keeps improving!
